From Mark:

Yesterday was a very sad day. We lost Max to cancer. Most of you know I’m almost blind. 7-1/2 years ago I finally said enough getting lost or just not navigating.I decided a guide dog was the way to go. I found OccuPaws Guide Dog Association in Madison. That’s where Max the world’s best golden retriever found me and decided I’d be a good match. When they brought him and trained me Ellie Carlsonmy trainer told me he was special and the bond would be different. She was so right. It’s a bond one can’t even describe but it’s there and it is strong.

For those of you that had the opportunity to meet Max you know how special he is.Needless to say, I am profoundly saddened by losing him. Scared not having him by my side. I know some day I’ll hopefully get a new guide dog, but it’s too painful to think about. For now, goodbye Max…you were always there by my side. My boy, my guide, my hero, and when that harness came of you were always that silly fluff ball puppy.

Thank you Maxwell I love you.
